Cherry Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. soft butter
    1 3/4 c. sugar
    4 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1 can cherry pie filling (21 oz.)
Preparation
    Combine first 4 ingredients and beat 2 minutes.
    Add the next 3 ingredients.
    Stir.
    Save out 1 1/2 cups batter.
    Spread the remainder of the batter in a large greased jelly roll pan and cover with cherry pie filling.
    Pour saved 1 1/2 cups batter on top of the cherry filling.
    Bake 30 to 35 minutes in a 350\u00b0 oven.
    When cool, drizzle powdered sugar icing over the top of the cooled cake.
