Ingredients

1 lb. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
5 c. flour (approximately)
Preparation

Mix sugar and butter.
Sift cornstarch with flour (1 cup) and add 2 cups flour; mix in 1 cup flour on counter and pound in with hand (to get air out).
Add not quite last cup of flour (counter should come clean).
Press into jelly roll pan and prick with fork.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
After 10 minutes, flatten with spatula until golden brown.
Slice in 1-inch squares when warm.
