Boston Brown Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. whole wheat flour
    1 c. corn meal
    2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    2 1/2 c. buttermilk
    1/2 c. molasses
    nuts, raisins, blueberries (optional)
Preparation
    Mix all ingredients.
    Fill greased empty tin or aluminum cans half full (frozen fruit juice cans or soup cans are best).
    Cover with a piece of foil.
    Place in a large boiler and fill boiler with water halfway up cans.
    Boil until bread is firm on top, about 40 minutes. Remove from cans.
    Keeps well in refrigerator. Delicious sliced and buttered or toasted.
