Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. dark brown sugar
3 eggs, beaten
1 Tbsp. ginger
1/2 c. molasses
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. cinnamon
Preparation

Cream the shortening.
Add the brown sugar and mix well.
Then add the eggs and blend.
Add the ginger to the molasses and mix. Then add to the sugar mixture.
Add the boiling water while stirring.
Sift the remaining ingredients together and add to the sugar mixture.
Mix well and then place in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
Drop by the teaspoonfuls on a greased baking sheet. Sprinkle granulated sugar on the top before baking.
Bake in a hot oven at 375\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
Makes 7 dozen cookies.
