Easy Cucumber Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. whole cucumbers
    1 c. plain salt
    2 oz. alum
    white vinegar
    3 1/2 lb. (or 7 c.) sugar
    1 Tbsp. pickling spice
Preparation
    Cover cucumbers with water.
    Let stand 6 or 7 days.
    Pour off water.
    Rinse good and slice.
    Add alum.
    Cover with water and let stand 6 hours.
    Pour off and rinse.
    Cover with white vinegar and let stand 6 hours.
    Pour off.
    Add sugar and pickling spice (tied in a bag).
    Don't put any vinegar in it.
    Let stand in jar for 30 days.
    Put in jar and process for 10 minutes.
