Almond Cream Cheese Coffee Cake - cooking recipe

1 pkg. cream cheese (large size)
3 to 4 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. almond extract
1/4 c. slivered almonds
1/4 to 1/2 c. chopped maraschino cherries
1 large can crescent rolls
1 egg, beaten
Preparation

Grease cookie sheet. In small bowl, combine cream cheese, sugar, almond extract, almonds and cherries. Mix well. Unroll crescent rolls into 2 long rectangles. Overlap enough to press edges together. Spoon cream cheese mixture down middle of pastry. On each long side of pastry, make cuts 1-inch apart up to filling. Fold over strips on each side to make a braid look. Seal each end. Brush top with egg. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 18 to 22 minutes or until golden brown. Cool and drizzle glaze over coffee cake. Garnish with cherries.
