Split Pea Or Lentil Soup - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. uncooked dry split peas or lentils, washed and drained
2 c. chicken, turkey or pork broth
1 c. canned or cooked chicken, turkey or pork
1 small onion, thinly sliced
2 Tbsp. quick Quaker cook barley
1 stalk celery with leaves, cut up
1 carrot, cut up
1 small potato, cut up
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. fat (margarine, butter or meat drippings, if desired)
Preparation

Put all ingredients in a pan.
Heat to boiling.
Cover and let stand about 30 minutes.
Then boil gently until split peas or lentils are tender.
Add a little broth or water if needed.
Makes about 2 servings, 1 cup each.
