Strawberry Delight Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 baked 10-inch pie shell
    1 qt. strawberries (if small, leave whole; if large, cut in half)
    1 c. water
    1 c. sugar
    salt
    4 rounded tsp. cornstarch
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Mix water, sugar, cornstarch and salt thoroughly. Cook over low heat until thick, stirring constantly. When thick, add vanilla and red food coloring to make
    a rich red.
    Let mixture cool. Add strawberries. Place in pie shell and refrigerate for a couple of hours before serving. Decorate with whipped cream or Cool Whip.
