Queen Elizabeth Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1/4 c. butter
1 beaten egg
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1/3 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. nuts

Preparation

Pour 1 cup boiling water over 1 box chopped dates.
Add 1teaspoon soda and let stand while above is mixed in usual manner. Add all together.
Pour into a 9 x 12-inch pan.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for about 35 minutes.
