Ingredients

1 egg plus 2 egg yolks (save whites for frosting)
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. Vermont maple syrup
1 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. nuts
1/2 c. milk
Preparation

Beat eggs.
Add shortening, sugar, maple syrup and vanilla; beat well.
Add flour, salt and baking powder alternately with milk.
Add nuts.
Pour into greased and floured 7 x 10-inch baking pan.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
Cool.
