Fig Preserves - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 qt. figs
    6 1/2 c. sugar
    4 qt. water
    2 lemons, sliced and seeds removed as much as possible
Preparation
    Wash and remove stems from firm but ripe figs.
    Cover with boiling water and let stand 5 minutes.
    Drain, rinse in cold water and pull off peeling.
