Aunt Gladys' Oatmeal Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. butter (must be butter, not margarine)
    1/2 c. water
    1 lb. dark brown sugar
    6 c. quick oatmeal
    2 c. flour
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Heat water, butter and brown sugar together until butter is melted.
    Let cool to lukewarm.
    Mix dry ingredients.
    Pour into wax paper lined 8 or 9-inch square pan.
    Cover with wax paper and refrigerate overnight.
    Cut into 4-inch sticks.
    Take one stick at a time (refrigerate the rest until needed).
    Slice very thin (1/8-inch or less) and place on ungreased cookie sheet.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 until dark brown, 10 to 15 minutes.
    Remove from pan immediately.
