Old-Fashioned Peanut Brittle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. granulated sugar
    1/2 c. water
    1/4 c. light corn syrup
    1 c. Spanish peanuts
    1/2 tsp. butter
    1/4 tsp. baking soda
Preparation
    In a large saucepan combine granulated sugar, water and light corn syrup.
    Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally to 238\u00b0 (soft ball stage in cold water).
    Stir in peanuts.
    Continue to cook and stir to 285\u00b0 (hard cracking stage).
    Quickly stir in butter and baking soda.
    Pour and spread thin on 2 greased baking sheets.
    Cool.
    Break into pieces.
    Makes about 1 pound peanut brittle.
