Onion Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. water
1 pkg. onion soup mix (1 3/8 oz.)
    1 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    2 Tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese
    1/4 c. warm water
    1 pkg. active dry yeast
    5 1/2 to 6 c. sifted all-purpose flour
Preparation
Bring 2 cups water to boiling in saucepan; add soup mix and simmer, covered, for 10 minutes.
Stir in sugar, salt, cheese and shortening.
    Cool to lukewarm.
Sprinkle yeast on warm water in large bowl; stir to dissolve.
Stir in onion soup mixture and 2 1/2 cups flour.
Beat with electric mixer at medium speed, scraping the bowl occasionally, 2 minutes or by hand until batter sheets from spoon.
Mix in remaining flour, a little at a time, first with spoon and then with hands, until dough leaves the sides of bowl.
    Dough will be moderately stiff.
