Irish Soda Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. caraway seed
    1 egg
    3/4 c. sugar
    4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 c. raisins
    1 1/4 c. buttermilk
    1/4 c. melted shortening
Preparation
    Sift together dry ingredients.
    Add raisins and caraway seed. Add beaten egg, buttermilk and melted shortening.
    Mix thoroughly. Turn out on lightly floured board and knead lightly for 1 minute. Shape in round loaf and place on greased pan.
    Mark in quarters and dot each section with butter.
    Allow to stand 10 to 15 minutes before baking in a 350\u00b0 oven for 1 hour.
