Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. molasses
2 eggs
dash of salt
1 c. sour milk (to 1 c. milk, add 1 tsp. lemon juice or vinegar)
6 1/2 c. flour
3 tsp. ginger
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. baking soda
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar.
Add molasses, eggs and spices; mix.
Add flour alternating with the milk.
Add baking soda; mix well.
Roll dough in balls size of walnut.
Flatten on cookie sheet.
Bake in 375\u00b0 oven for 10 to 12 minutes.
Yields 5 dozen cookies.
