Chewy Caramel Brownies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. packed light brown sugar
    1 c. flour
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    2 tsp. baking powder
    2 tsp. vanilla
    3/4 tsp. salt
Preparation
    In large bowl, measure all ingredients.
    With mixer at medium speed, beat all ingredients until smooth, occasionally scraping bowl with rubber spatula.
    Evenly spread in a greased and floured 13 x 9 x 2-inch oblong pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
    Cool brownies in pan 5 minutes.
    Cut in squares and remove to a wire rack to cool.
    Yields 2 1/2 dozen.
