Pickled Squash - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. sliced squash
    6 medium or 4 large onions
    3 to 4 bell peppers
    5 c. sugar
    3 c. vinegar
    1 1/2 Tbsp. celery seed
    1 1/2 Tbsp. turmeric
    1 Tbsp. mustard seed
Preparation
    Sprinkle salt over squash, onions and bell peppers; let set for 3 hours in ice; drain and add sugar, vinegar, celery seed, turmeric and mustard seed.
    Bring to a rolling boil.
    Put in jars and seal.
