Red Beans And Rice - cooking recipe
Ingredients

4 (15 or 16 oz.) cans red beans, drained and washed
1 lb. (16 oz.) smoked sausage or turkey sausage (90% fat-free or less)
1 large bell pepper, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 c. celery, chopped
2 medium onions, chopped
1 Tbsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp. basil leaves or 2 bay leaves
pinch of oregano
pinch of thyme
salt and pepper to taste
Preparation

Put 3 cans of red beans in crock-pot (save the fourth can to be used later). Cut sausage crosswise into 1/2 to 3/4-inch pieces and add.
Turn crock-pot to high and let beans and sauce begin to cook.
Add chopped vegetables and spices.
Add salt and pepper to taste.
The amount needed will depend on spices in sausage and on your individual taste.
Add 1/2 cup water.
Turn crock-pot to low and let mixture cook for 8 hours.
