Steamed Indian Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. cornmesh (white or yellow)
    1 c. whole wheat flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking soda
    3/4 c. molasses
    2 c. milk
Preparation
    Mix the dry ingredients in a good sized bowl.
    Beat in the molasses and milk quickly for 2 minutes.
    Grease a 1 pound coffee can and place wax paper around sides and bottom.
    Fill 2/3 full with mixture.
    Place foil over top and place in a covered kettle. Add water around the sides of the can.
    Cover and steam for about 2 hours or until done.
    Replenish water when necessary.
    Serve sliced, hot and buttered.
    Yields 1 loaf.
