American Pierogi - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. butter or margarine
    1 large onion, sauteed until soft
    1 lb. pkg. wide egg noodles, cooked and drained
    1 small box (8 to 12 servings) instant potatoes or fresh
    1 pkg. (24 slices) American cheese (do not melt cheese)
Preparation
    Layer 9 x 13-inch pan with small amount of onions, then noodles, then mashed potatoes.
    Place on top slices of cheese; repeat ending top layer with cheese.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 until brown on top (20 to 30 minutes).
