Saucepan Ginger Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 c. margarine
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1/2 c. molasses
    1/4 c. water
    1 tsp. ginger
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    maraschino cherries or walnut halves
Preparation
    Mix flour and baking powder together; set aside.
    In a 2-quart saucepan, at medium heat, bring margarine, sugar, molasses and spice to a boil, stirring well to dissolve sugar.
    Remove from heat.
    Cool.
    With a wooden spoon, beat in egg.
    Cover and chill several hours, even overnight.
