White Peppernuts - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. sugar
    8 c. flour
    8 eggs
    2 lemons, grated rind
    2 tsp. nutmeg
    2 Tbsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Beat eggs; add sugar, lemon rind, nutmeg, cloves, salt and baking powder and 2 cups flour; mix well.
    Add 1 cup flour at a time and stir by hand until too hard to stir, then work in rest of flour on board.
    Take small portions of dough and form into rolls about 1/2 to 3/4-inch thick.
    Cut in 1/2-inch lengths; roll into balls between palms.
    Bake on greased cookie sheet about 8 minutes in a 350\u00b0 oven.
