Apple Upside-Down Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/4 c. butter or margarine
1/4 c. light brown sugar
2 1/2 c. sliced apples
2 tsp. lemon juice
1/3 c. shortening
1/4 tsp. salt
2/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg, well beaten
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
2/3 c. milk
Preparation

Melt butter in an 8 x 8-inch pan; sprinkle with brown sugar. Arrange apples, overlapping wedges on sugar.
Sprinkle with lemon juice.
Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla together.
Add egg and beat vigorously.
Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk.
Pour batter over fruit.
Bake at 325\u00b0 about 1 hour; cool 5 minutes, then turn upside down on a serving plate.
