Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. sliced cucumbers
    12 medium onions, sliced
    8 to 10 green peppers, sliced
    5 c. vinegar
    5 c. sugar
    2 tsp. turmeric spice
    1 tsp. celery seed
    2 Tbsp. prepared mustard
    1 tsp. mustard seed
    1 pinch of alum
Preparation
    Scrub and slice cucumbers into 1/8-inch thick slices.
    Combine vinegar, sugar, turmeric spice, celery seed, prepared mustard and mustard seed and bring to a boil.
    Pour in cucumbers, green peppers and onions and bring back to a boil.
    Cook 5 to 8 minutes over medium heat.
    Sterilize jars.
    Add a pinch of alum to each jar and fill with pickle mixture and seal.
