Cherry-Nut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. sugar
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
    1 (10 oz.) jar maraschino cherries, drained and chopped
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 c. chopped pecans
Preparation
    In mixing bowl, thoroughly stir together flour, soda and salt; set aside.
    In large mixer bowl, cream together sugar, butter or margarine, eggs and vanilla until light and fluffy.
    Add flour mixture and buttermilk alternately to creamed mixture.
    Beat just until blended after each addition.
    Fold in nuts and cherries. Bake in greased, 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan for 55 to 60 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Remove from pan; cool.
    If desired, glaze with confectioners icing.
