Ingredients

2 c. sugar
1/2 lb. butter, room temperature
2 eggs, beaten lightly
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, mixing well.
Stir in milk. Combine dry ingredients and mix in.
Drop mixture from spoon onto cookie sheets; spread with spatula.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 minutes or until nicely brown.
Remove from sheet immediately and cool on wax paper.
Makes 4 dozen.
