Peanut Brittle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. light corn syrup
    2 c. unsalted peanuts
    1 tsp. butter or margarine
    1/4 tsp. baking soda
Preparation
    Combine sugar, corn syrup and 1 cup water in medium saucepan; stir over low heat until sugar is dissolved.
    Continue cooking without stirring until a little in cold water forms a soft ball (takes about 15 minutes).
    Add peanuts; cook until syrup turns golden brown, about 10 minutes.
    Add butter and soda, stirring just enough to mix.
    Pour onto greased cookie sheet, forming a large square of brittle.
    Cool, then break into pieces.
