Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1/2 c. thick sour milk or buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
5 c. (approximately) flour, sift before measuring
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. lemon extract
1 tsp. salt
Preparation

Cream sugar and shortening together.
Add eggs, well beaten, soda mixed with sour milk, salt, extracts and about 5 cups flour. Roll thin and cut with cookie cutters.
Grease pan and bake in moderate oven about 12 minutes.
Makes 90 cookies.
Ice with confectioners sugar icing.
These are easier to cut if chilled before cutting.
