Oliebollen(Fried Cakes) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. shortening
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 egg, well beaten
    3 c. potato water (lukewarm)
    2 yeast cakes
    1 c. currants
    1 c. raisins
    1/4 c. citron
    1 apple, cut in very small pieces
    6 or 7 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cream shortening with sugar.
    Add egg, potato water and yeast. Mix well and add currants, citron, raisins and flour sifted with salt.
    Let rise until light.
    Drop from spoon in hot fat (365\u00b0). Drain on absorbent paper and roll in sugar.
