Fig Preserves - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 lb. figs
    3 lb. sugar
    1 lemon, sliced thin
    1 pt. white Karo
    1 c. boiling water
    1 Tbsp. lime
    1 Tbsp. salt
Preparation
    Wash figs, using only firm figs with stems.
    Soak for 10 minutes in lime water (1 tablespoon air slaked lime to 1 gallon water).
    Drain.
    Soak in plain water for 10 minutes.
    Drain; let stand in salt water for 10 minutes (1 tablespoon salt to each gallon water).
    Drain well, but do not rinse.
