Onion, Ham And Cheese Chowder - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. cubed potatoes
    1/2 c. boiling water
    1 c. chopped onion
    3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    3 Tbsp. flour
    dash of pepper
    3 c. milk
    1 1/2 c. chopped cooked ham
    1 1/2 c. (6 oz.) American cheese
Preparation
    Cook potatoes in water about 10 minutes until tender.
    Drain, reserving liquid.
    Add enough water to make 1 cup.
    Cook onion in margarine until tender but not brown.
    Blend in flour and pepper. Add milk and potato water all at once.
    Cook and stir until mixture thickens.
    Add ham and cheese.
    Stir to melt cheese. Don't boil.
    Serves 8.
