Congo Squares - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 3/4 c. sifted plain flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 to 3 c. shortening
2 1/2 c. brown sugar (1 lb. pkg.)
3 eggs
1 c. nuts
1 pkg. Nestle semi-sweet chocolate morsels
Preparation

Mix and sift flour, baking powder and salt.
Melt shortening and add brown sugar.
Stir until well blended.
Allow to cool. Add eggs, one at a time and beat.
Add dry ingredients, then nuts and chocolate.
Pour into greased, long and shallow pan.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
Makes 48 squares.
When cool, cut in 2 x 2-inch squares.
