Mennonite Egg Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 beaten eggs
    2 c. milk
    pinch of salt
    butter
    8 slices bread (thick)
    lard (to fry)
    powdered sugar
    jelly
Preparation
    Mix egg and milk, adding salt.
    Remove crusts from bread; dip in mixture.
    Fry quickly in hot fat until a delicate brown, turning.
    Spread lightly with butter, sprinkle with sugar and place a spoonful of jelly on each piece.
    Serves 4.
