Date Loaf Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. dates
1 c. hot water
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 c. pecans
1 tsp. soda
1 1/3 c. flour
maraschino cherries

Preparation

Pour hot water over dates; add butter and sugar, mixing well. Stir in egg, salt, soda and flour until well blended.
Stir in pecans and cherries.
Pour into greased and floured loaf pan; bake at 250\u00b0 until toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean.
