Ingredients

1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
3 Tbsp. cream
1 c. flour, sifted
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. maraschino cherries, drained
Preparation

Cream butter, stir in sugar gradually, mixing well after each addition.
Add egg and beat with a spoon until fluffy.
In a second bowl, mix flour, baking powder and salt.
Add to first mixture, alternately with the cream.
Add vanilla, dip cherries into the batter, one at a time and remove with a spoon.
Place on a well-buttered sheet.
Bake in a 375\u00b0 oven for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes 50 small cookies. Pitted dates may also be added.
