Asparagus Cheese Bake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen asparagus
    6 slices white sandwich bread
    1 c. shredded Monterey Jack cheese
    1 small onion, chopped
    4 eggs
    2 1/2 c. milk
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. dry mustard
    dash of cayenne red pepper
Preparation
    Cook asparagus as directed.
    Cut 9 (2-inch) circles from bread slices.
    Tear remaining bread into small pieces and place into ungreased 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking dish.
    Layer asparagus, cheese and onion on bread pieces.
    Top with bread circles.
    Beat eggs, milk, salt, mustard and red pepper and pour on bread circles.
    Bake at 325\u00b0, uncovered, until center is set, 1 hour to 1 hour and 10 minutes.
    Let stand 10 minutes before cutting.
    (Will hold, covered, in refrigerator up to 24 hours before baking.)
