Cherry-Sherry - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 (17 oz.) cans pitted dark sweet cherries
    1 (3 oz.) pkg. cherry flavor gelatin
    1/2 c. medium cherry sherry
    1/3 c. almonds
    1 pt. vanilla ice cream
Preparation
    Early in day:
    Drain cherries, reserving liquid.
    To liquid, add enough water to make 1 3/4 cups.
    In medium saucepan over high heat, heat liquid to boiling.
    Place gelatin in medium bowl; stir in liquid until gelatin is dissolved.
    Add cherries, sherry and almonds.
    Refrigerate.
