Ingredients

2 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
4 c. flour
1 Tbsp. salt
pecans
Preparation

Mix together thoroughly, shortening, brown sugar, egg yolks and vanilla.
Sift together and stir in flour and salt.
Cool in refrigerator until firm.
Roll into small balls.
Dip in slightly beaten egg whites.
Roll in ground pecans.
Place about 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake at 350\u00b0.
Bake five minutes and remove and press thumb in each cookie.
Return to oven and bake 8 minutes.
Cool.
Ice with confectioners sugar icing.
