Peanut Brittle I - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. water
    1 c. light Karo syrup
    3 c. sugar
    3 to 4 c. peanuts, raw and unsalted
    3 tsp. soda
    3 tsp. butter
    1 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Mix first 3 ingredients and boil until clear.
    Add peanuts. Stir with wooden spoon using medium heat.
    Cook until pink syrup turns brown.
    Peanuts should be brown also.
    Syrup will be a little thick and makes a hard string.
    Quickly mix in soda, butter, and salt; pour on a lightly buttered foil covered tray. Let cool and break into pieces.
