Blueberry Pinwheel - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    2 c. sifted flour
    5 Tbsp. shortening
    1 pt. blueberries
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. milk
    2 c. water
Preparation
    Bring sugar and water to a boil; reduce heat and simmer 3 minutes.
    Set aside.
    Sift dry ingredients together.
    Cut in shortening to size of cornmeal.
    Add milk; mix until soft dough is formed.
    Roll out dough to 1/2 inch thick on a floured board. Spread with fruit and roll like a jelly roll.
    Put syrup into an 11 x 7 x 1 1/2-inch pan.
    Cut dough roll into 1-inch slices and lay in syrup.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 for 35 to 40 minutes.
    Serve plain, with ice cream or top with cream.
