Pear-Custard Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 unbaked 9-inch pastry shell
    juice of 1/2 lemon
    1 c. sugar
    3 eggs
    1/8 tsp. salt
    whipped cream (optional)
    4 medium pears
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    1/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/8 tsp. mace
Preparation
    Peel, halve and core pears; brush with lemon juice.
    Place pears, cut side down, in pastry shell, with narrow end toward center.
    Cream butter and sugar.
    Beat in flour, eggs, vanilla and salt.
    Pour over pears.
    Sprinkle lightly with mace.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 40 to 45 minutes or until filling is set and top is lightly browned.
    Cool on cake rack for 1 hour or longer, before cutting. Top with whipped cream, if desired.
    Best if served same day.
