Black Cherry Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (1 lb.) can dark sweet cherries
    1 (3 oz.) pkg. dark cherry flavor gelatin
    1 (8 1/2 oz.) can crushed pineapple
    1/2 c. thinly sliced celery
    1/2 c. chopped walnuts
    lettuce
    whipped cream or other topping
Preparation
    Drain cherries; measure juice and add enough water to make 1 3/4 cups.
    Heat half of liquid and add to gelatin.
    Stir until gelatin is dissolved.
    Add remaining liquid.
    Chill until mixture starts to thicken.
    Cut cherries in half and combine with drained pineapple, celery and nuts.
    Fold into gelatin and turn into individual molds.
    Chill until firm.
    Unmold on lettuce and garnish with topping.
