Christmas Wassail - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. apple cider
    4 sticks cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1/2 tsp. allspice
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1 orange, sliced
    1 lemon, sliced
    4 c. orange juice
    1 c. lemon juice
    1 1/2 c. sugar (or more to taste)
Preparation
    Combine all ingredients in a large kettle.
    Steep just below boiling point for 2 hours.
    Remove cinnamon sticks.
    Serve hot.
