Ingredients

1/2 c. butter
1 egg
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. pitted dates, chopped
1 c. shredded coconut
1 c. chopped walnuts
Preparation

Cream butter, egg and vanilla. Mix dry ingredients. Blend both mixtures thoroughly.
Mix dates, coconut and walnuts until blended.
Form dough into two (1 1/2-inch) rolls and wrap in waxed paper or foil.
Chill in freezer 2 hours or up to 1 month.
Slice with sharp knife into 3/8-inch slices.
Place on lightly greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 12 minutes.
Cool on rack.
Makes 5 dozen.
