Grandma'S Coconut Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 cans (large) Pet milk
    2 c. sugar
    2 to 3 egg yolks
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/2 c. milk
    3/4 c. coconut
    egg whites
    handful of sugar
    1 tsp. cream of tartar
Preparation
    Boil first 4 ingredients on stove in thick pan or double boiler.
    Make thickening with cornstarch and milk.
    Add to boiling mixture.
    Cook until thick.
    Set aside to cool.
    Add coconut.
