Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
3 eggs, beaten
1/4 c. warm water
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped dates
1 c. raisins
1 c. nuts
Preparation

Blend shortening and sugar until creamy.
Beat in eggs.
Mix baking soda in water, stir into creamed mixture.
Add vanilla and flour, mix well.
Fold in dates, raisins and nuts.
Drop by spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets.
Bake in preheated oven at 400\u00b0 for about 10 minutes, or until light brown.
These stay moist and chewy.
