Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 Tbsp. grated orange peel, soaked in 1 Tbsp. boiling water
1 egg
2 c. flour
2 Tbsp. orange juice
Preparation

Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
Cream shortening with sugar.
Add egg and orange peel.
Mix thoroughly.
Blend in flour, alternately with orange juice.
Roll dough on floured board to 1/8-inch thick.
Cut into shapes or doughnut rounds.
Place on lightly greased baking sheet.
Bake 7 to 8 minutes or until lightly browned.
Makes 3 to 4 dozen.
