Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1 egg, beaten slightly
1 c. coconut
1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. oatmeal
1/2 tsp. soda
Preparation

Cream together the shortening, brown sugar, egg and vanilla. Add the dry ingredients and mix well.
Roll into small balls and flatten with a glass that has a moistened cloth held tightly over the end.
Bake about 10 minutes at 375\u00b0.
