Fried Green Tomatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 medium green tomatoes
    salt to taste
    pepper to taste
    1 c. white corn meal
    1/2 c. bacon drippings or vegetable oil
Preparation
    Wash, core and slice tomatoes 1/4 inch thick.
    Season with salt and pepper.
    Place corn meal in a small bowl.
    Dip each tomato slice into corn meal, turning to coat both sides.
    In a large skillet, heat 1/4 cup bacon drippings or oil.
    Add coated tomato slices.
    Fry 2 to 3 minutes per side.
    Turning will depend on size and moisture in tomatoes.
    Add oil as needed.
    When tomatoes are lightly brown on both sides, place on a paper towel lined platter.
